- BRCM Storytime Series: Sat, Apr 1 (and we're not foolin'!), 2PM with Sandra Davis Burton and her book series "Guinea Pigs in the Garden" We’ll be serving up some yummy garden snacks, Granny's Molasses cookies and we'll be making some nature inspired Easter hats inspired by the story! Bring a bonnet or hat from home or we'll have some on hand to decorate. Fun for all ages! Sandra will read from her book and share a sneak preview for Book #3 in the "Guinea Pigs in the Garden" Series coming out soon!
- About the Book: Gus & Gertrude are exceptional guinea pigs because they are passionate about gardening. Share their excitement as this delightful guinea pig couple, along with their endearing animal friends, encounter some of the many surprises and rewards that come along in a gardener's year. The story is complete with a flower glossary and graced with beautiful orginal watercolors by Lee Gildea. Sandra's debut children's book imparts simple lessons through which her knowledge of gardening shines.
About the author: Sandra Davis Burton is a native of Crozet, Virginia. She recalls the joys of growing up in this small community, where neighborliness was a way of life and where the seasons of planting and harvesting were of great importance to everyone. These fond memories are inspiration for her as she endeavors to bring this same wholesomeness to her "Guinea Pigs in the Garden" Series
About the illustrator: Robert E Lee Gildea Jr is a Southern country buy, artist, fox hunter, former school teacher, riding instructor, horse trader, and small farmer. He lives with his beloved Jack Russels on the family homeplace in Albermarle County, Virginia.
